Denny Young


As TMChoir conducts a search for its next Executive Director, Denny Young has taken on the role on an Interim basis. He joined the TMChoir Board of Directors in 2019 and served as its Chair from 2021-2023. Denny’s 30+ year career in nonprofit management has included senior leadership roles in the performing arts, healthcare, and education at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Sherbourne Health Centre, the National Ballet of Canada, and the University of Toronto.

A highly regarded teacher and advisor, Denny taught for several years in Humber College’s Fundraising Management program and also the Nonprofit Management program at Toronto Metropolitan University.  In 2014, the GTA Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals presented Denny with its Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award. He has published numerous articles in various publications and is a frequent speaker at conferences in Canada and the United States. In addition to his career in the nonprofit sector, for 27 years Denny was a music director in a number of United Church congregations in Toronto and Windsor.

As a volunteer, Denny is Chair of the Board of the TD Bank Private Giving Foundation. He has a BA in Communications from the University of Windsor, a MA in Philanthropy and Development from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, has completed the Ivey School of Business Executive Program, and has a certificate in the Foundations of Coaching from the Adler Graduate Professional School.
