Nonprofit management expert, fundraiser, teacher, and coach, Denny Young’s award-winning career includes senior staff roles at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the National Ballet of Canada. Now, his commitment to the performing arts continues as Chair of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir Board of Directors. After only a brief retirement, in 2020, Denny began working at the U of T’s School of Continuing Studies where he is developing and launching a fundraising campaign. It’s a perfect fit for someone who has been dedicated to life-long learning both as a teacher and student. For over 15 years, Denny has been a faculty member in Humber College’s Fundraising Management program, and Ryerson’s Nonprofit Management program. In 2014, the GTA Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals recognized Denny’s dedication to the profession with its Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award. Denny has a MA in Philanthropy and Development from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota where he conducted research into best practices for Board recruitment in the performing arts. Since then, Denny has completed the Ivey School of Business Executive Program and achieved a Coaching Certificate from the Adler Graduate Professional School.
