Choral and Orchestral Forces Align for Mahler’s Resurrection at Southam Hall
Toronto Mendelssohn Choir will join the National Arts Centre Orchestra for performances of Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, Resurrection, on June 24 and 25, 2026, in Southam Hall, Ottawa. Conducted by Alexander Shelley, these performances mark the NAC Orchestra’s first presentation of the work and are part of Shelley’s final season as Music Director.
A profound exploration of life, death, and renewal, Mahler’s Resurrection is one of the most expansive and moving works in the symphonic repertoire. The performances will bring together the NAC Orchestra, with participants in its Mentorship Program, and Toronto Mendelssohn Choir under the direction of Artistic Director Jean-Sébastien Vallée.
Toronto Mendelssohn Choir previously collaborated with the National Centre Orchestra and the Orchestre symphonique de Québec in the 2023–24 season, touring with a powerful performance of Jacques Hétu’s Symphony No. 5.
