Toronto Mendelssohn Choir expands outreach program to include three concert webcasts in 2014/15 season

As part of its mission, the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir aspires to make choral masterworks available, accessible, and inspirational to all listeners.  In the 2014/15 season the Choir is webcasting three concerts.  Webcasts allow people with internet access anywhere in the world to enjoy concerts by one of Canada’s great choirs, whether they are local residents who can’t get out to a concert venue, or are choral music lovers from across Canada and beyond.

Starting in 2012, the Choir began webcasting its annual Symposium concert.  Viewers came from BC to Nova Scotia, across the U.S. and countries in Europe including England, the Czech Republic and Spain. Response was positive and so, in line with the Choir’s mission to reach more people with great choral music, the TMC expanded its program to three webcasts this season.  These webcasts are made possible by the generous support of two individual donors who have been long-time supporters of the Choir and are excited by this opportunity to help the TMC reach out to a larger and more diverse audience.

The Choir is now webcasting its concerts on the Livestream platform which also enables viewers to watch, for a limited time, archived recordings of each concert.

The TMC broadcast its 120th anniversary concert from Koerner Hall on October 15, 2014. This concert of Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass and Mozart’s Requiem will remain available to viewers for one year.  Viewers to date have come from across Canada, the U.S. and Europe with a few from farther afield. The concert can be viewed in its entirety at: https://new.livestream.com/TMChoir/MozartHaydn

The TMC will webcast its Festival of Carols concert from Yorkminster Park Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 10 at 7:30 pm EST (-5 GMT).  This year, the Choir will be joined in its annual Christmas concert by the acclaimed 30-piece Canadian Staff Band and by renowned organist David Briggs. Festival of Carols will be webcast at https://new.livestream.com/TMChoir/FestivalofCarols

The third webcast will be of the 2015 Choral Conductors’ Symposium concert on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 3:00 pm EST (-5 GMT).
