Corporate Support
The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir pursues excellence in everything it does, whether we’re singing to a sold-out audience at Koerner Hall, or inspiring young musicians through our education and outreach programming. The TMC partners with corporations who recognize the importance of choral music as a force for positive social change. Corporations support the TMC through performance sponsorships, corporate donations, and by matching the charitable contributions of their employees.
Performance sponsorships
By sponsoring a TMC performance, your corporation can gain exposure and access to our valuable high-end demographic. Based on our research, the TMC’s audience is primarily university-educated, and has a considerably higher average household income than the national average.
Current sponsorship opportunities
Koerner Hall performance sponsorship (two available)
The TMC performs twice each year in the beautiful new Koerner Hall. These performances feature the 150-voice Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, the Festival Orchestra, and internationally-acclaimed soloists. These unique events create a perfect backdrop for corporate entertainment events. As our Koerner Hall concert sponsor you will receive extensive marketing exposure and client entertainment opportunities. Our sponsorship packages are versatile and can be crafted to meet your needs.
Seasonal church concert sponsorship (two available)
Two of the TMC’s most popular annual events are the Festival of Carols in December, and Sacred Music for a Sacred Space on Good Friday. As the sponsor of one of these family favourite events, you will receive marketing exposure, a block of concert tickets, and the opportunity to host a reception at one of the TMC’s preferred local restaurants.
Corporate Donations
Good corporate citizens who believe in the arts and in choral music make an annual commitment to supporting the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir. In return, they receive recognition in our concert programmes as well as a charitable tax receipt for the maximum allowable amount.
Some corporations or corporate foundations may wish to designate their funds to be used for work with youth or emerging artists. We can give enhanced recognition packages to corporate donors who choose to offset the costs of an entire program. We are seeking corporate support for several of our education and outreach programs:
Emerging Conductor Program
We provide training, mentorship, and important professional performing opportunities for talented young choral conductors who are trying to establish themselves on the national and international stage. Most participants are graduates of Masters or PhD programs in choral conducting, and the TMC Emerging Conductor Program is an important link from the academic to the professional world.
Toronto District School Board Partnership
The TMC has partnered with the Toronto District School Board since 2007 to provide professional development opportunities for TDSB choral conductors, and students who have chosen to make music and singing an important part of their lives. Bringing young musicians together from across the city to sing together reduces stigma and allows for a powerful experience of musical growth under the leadership of TMC artistic staff.
TMC Apprentice Program
Each year, the TMC auditions talented young singers aged 17—22, who are admitted to the TMC as apprentice members. These young men and women participate in a reduced performance calendar and receive mentorship from veteran choristers, as well as bursary assistance to cover uniform and music fees, a series of voice lessons, and some travel expenses.
Employee Matching Gift Program
Some corporations will match the charitable contributions of their employees up to a certain amount. The TMC gladly accepts and acknowledges these types of donations.
We invite TMC choristers and other individuals who are preparing to make a donation to the TMC to check with their supervisors or HR Managers to see if their company will match their contribution. This can be a great way for the TMC to boost donation revenue.
