MacMillan: Seven Last Words from the Cross
Pärt: Berliner Messe

Church of the Holy Trinity

Enjoy two great works for choir and string orchestra in the intimate setting of Church of the Holy Trinity.  In his Seven Last Words from the Cross, composer James MacMillan attempts to come to terms with the violence and drama of the events on the cross as well to meditate on their spiritual significance. The second work in this concert, Arvo Pärt’s Berliner Messe, flows from quietly reverent duets between parts to full chorus proclamations of faith.
